Searching the employment sites every morning has become a job in it's self. There are jobs out there. On average 5 to 10 Resumes have been sent to potential positions. Unless access to a computer with Internet is available there is no way someone can find a job. The Internet has made searching for a job so much easier. Search a site, find some possible jobs send out resumes. It saves on paper, ink, gas and time. Before it was type out Resumes, check out the paper and drive around to potential companies to see if they were hiring. It was hitting the pavement. Now employers don't want you to send in a hard copy of your Resume, they just want it by email. Even faxing has gone by the way side.
The search has been for an administrative or office type employment. After working since the age of 19 in mostly manufacturing positions it's time for a change. Administration is not that difficult. Hard to believe that colleges offer a 3 year course for general administration. For medical or legal a one year course covering the aspects of what is required, but 3 years get real. After searching some of these courses that are being offered they are very basic. Similar to basket weaving 101.

Being Unemployed

With the global economic downfall no ones job is safe. Mine has been hit. So here I sit making looking for a job making that my job until I find new employment. I want to get out of the industry that I have worked in for the last 15 years into something else.
Since I haven't had to look for a job for a number of years I find it so much easier to do now. Remember when you had to actually hand deliver your Resume. You were so limited as to how many that could be delivered in a day. Having to print off the Resumes and Cover Letters. What a pain in the butt that was. It was so frustrating. The main source was the newspaper and that used to take up several pages. Now the employment ads barely take up half a page.
Now you can sit in your jammies and search the job sites tweak the Cover Letter and send it off with the Resume. Never thought I would be able to apply for a job while I'm in my jammies. You can send off so many more this way and not have to leave your home.
